The Physical & Technical Security staff is charged with securing CIA’s facilities in unique and exciting environments around the world. This process includes analyzing risk, securely constructing facilities, accrediting secure work environments, and engineering, installing, integrating, and maintaining specialized security systems. As an Intern for this section you would be part of the team that accomplishes that mission. Your efforts, either as part of a team project or even completing independent research, will serve as the basis for the secure environment required at our facilities worldwide. Regular domestic and overseas travel is required for full-time staff employees and interns may be afforded the opportunity to participate in a trip dependent on performance, aptitude, schedule, and budget restrictions. Conversion to a full-time Physical and Technical Security Officer position is possible at the conclusion of the internship/co-op program.
Minimum requirements: Candidates must be enrolled in a nationally accredited degree program (2 or 4 year) in Electronics, Engineering, or Information Technology. Physical and Technical Security Officers come from a variety of backgrounds, life experiences, and professional and educational histories.
Competitive candidates have experience in:
- Installation, maintenance, and/or administration of IT systems
- Programming (C, C++, Python, Scripting, Internet, Windows applications development, Linux/Unix, interrupt processing/service routines, device drivers, RS-232 communication applications)
- Voice/data communications (satellite, RF, wireless and telecommunications networks)
- Anti-terrorism force protection
- Program and/or process management
- Installing and/or integrating security equipment to include:
Intrusion detection systems; Access control systems;CCTV systems;Vehicle barriers
- High-security locking hardware
- Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
