Duties
The purpose of this position is to provide counseling, assistance and ensure timely, economical and procedurally correct preparation of documents to authorize and process transportation services for all DHS and DoD civilian and military personnel.

Being a CG civilian makes you a valuable member of the CG team. Typical work assignments include:

*Being responsible for scheduling, and directing all personal property services including: inbound moves, outbound moves, temporary and non-temporary storage, mobile homes, boats/trailers, privately owned vehicles (POVs), personally procured moves (PPMs), one time only (OTO) solicitations, damage claims, and quality assurance inspections within area of responsibility.

*Conducting group or individual orientation and counseling sessions to inform applicants (property owners) of traffic management matters determining the needs and developing the correct combination of entitlements applicable to conditions and restrictions at the new duty station, for discharge, retirement, or deceased personnel.

*Routing and booking shipments using the Defense Personal Property System (DPS) and Transportation Operational Personal Property Standard System (TOPS) to compare Transportation Service Provider (TSP) rates and computing cost estimates via various transportation modes.

* Implementing Quality Assurance (QA) programs to evaluate contractor and TSP performance and ensures maximum participation in the Customer Satisfaction Surveys upon delivery of household goods within 30 days.

* Producing a variety of documents using word processing software, working from handwritten drafts, edited copies, or electronic files; making insertions and deletions and moving text within and between electronic word processing files.

Qualifications
GS-4: Appliants must have one year of general experience – progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.

A combination of post high school education and general experience that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.

GS-5: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level (in the Federal sector). Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include: providing tracking information to customers; preparing documents that allow carriers to clear shipments through customs; planning and providing travel services; using an automated database to track information, identify status of items and generate reports.

GS-6: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level (in the Federal sector). Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include: determining the ideal combination of personal property shipment and/or storage services from numerous possible entitlements; verifying entitlements for shipment and storage of household goods; analysing shipping data (technical and non-technical for pertinent information required to classify and route frieght.

National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
