Performs skilled work in the repair, programming and maintenance of AVAYA telephone systems, PA and intercoms systems such as: AVAYA IPO, Ryland, and Dukane. Work is performed under general supervision without specific instructions. Receives daily work orders from supervisor.

Essential Job Functions:
Repairs and maintains various types of telephone systems, including but not limited to: AVAYA IPO, Server addition, Voice Mail Pro, etc.
Installs and configures software for voicemail systems (such as Voicemail Pro). Upgrades firmware for IP Office along with updating manager software and voicemail manager software. Configures Windows software to run manager and voicemail software.
Works with vendors to order circuits and lines, turn up circuits and lines along with configuring circuit parameters. Create designs for call flow in auto attendant systems, sets up programming to include hunt groups, add/delete users. Trains end users on operations and options pertaining to various phone systems.
Provides technical information to create phone system specifications for purchases.
Repairs and maintains various types of intercom systems such as: Ryland and Dukane.
Inspects and performs preventive maintenance on all assigned equipment; cleans and services equipment as needed.
Assists end-users with instructions in the proper setup, operation and use of telephone and intercom equipment.
Works independently or within a team to edit existing or create new bell schedules and/or tones, program zone paging, relocate or install additional speakers, intercom phones and amplifiers.
Identify, troubleshoot and repair phone and intercom components when necessary to minimize down time.
Works with other maintenance staff, school officials and staff to resolve maintenance problems.
Performs other related duties as required.
Considerable knowledge of the installation, maintenance and repair of AVAYA IPO and public address systems and intercoms. Demonstrated ability to read wiring diagrams; to follow installation and operation manuals and to work safely and efficiently with various types of equipment and tools. Demonstrated ability to work independently and assume responsibility for repair of assigned equipment without direct supervision; to prioritize work schedules; to investigate, identify and correct problems in assigned work areas; to work effectively with other maintenance workers, staff and the public and to follow oral and written instructions. Basic keyboarding and computer skills.
Any equivalent combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform this job. Valid VA Driver’s License. This position is designated as a driving position. In accordance with Policy 5431, driving record checks are performed annually on individuals occupying driving positions.
