Performs highly complex (senior-level) network maintenance work in support of the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV), Information Technology Service Division (ITSD). Work involves the implementation, maintenance, and monitoring of local area network (LAN)/Server hardware and software, coordinating network design and installations of hardware/software, service requests and issue resolution, policy development, monitoring, analysis of existing hardware and software, and evaluating potential improvements to the network, server infrastructure, software, and services. May train others. May assign and/or monitor the work of others when leading special projects. Work may require contact with governmental agencies. Works under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Monitors and manages day-to-day operation of LAN, servers, and server software ensuring service level agreement (SLA) compliance, policy and procedure development, including performing scheduled tasks and special projects.
Responsible for TxDMV LAN/Server environment (Windows/Linux/AIX/Sharepoint) including, but not limited to, design, installation, support, and configuration of physical and virtual (VMware) servers and appliances.
Analyzes and troubleshoots network logs and tracks the nature and resolution of problems; monitors usage to ensure security of data and access privileges.
Prepares/writes and/or provides input for bid specifications, or RFPs, for services, maintenance contracts, and/or procurement of LAN/Server hardware and/or software.
Coordinates and performs testing of vendor hardware and software.
Keeps current regarding relevant hardware/software products for system enhancements; researches and recommends network and server hardware and software as well as improvements for policies, procedures, and processes.
Participates in network system testing and validation of the Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) and Business Continuity Plan (BCP); provides input and feedback to DRP and BCP activities.
Prepares charts, diagrams, and tables to depict current and future states and develop long-range and comprehensive LAN plans.
Assists with the development and maintenance of LAN/Server documentation for procedures and processes.
May provide on-the-job training for LAN/Server Administrators in the operation, installation, and maintenance of the LAN/Server environment.
Administers Active Directory, SharePoint, end user accounts, profiles, file sharing, access privileges and security; Office365, Internet/Intranet Support; network and remote connectivity hardware/software support.
Provides Internet/Intranet Support; network and remote connectivity hardware/software support.
Maintains Office 365 e-mail accounts; anti-spam and anti-virus servers; updating anti-virus definition files; voicemail and call features; Storage Area Networks (SAN).
May coordinate scheduled server backups; Mobile Device Management; Video Teleconferencing; Web-based conferencing; Enterprise Content Management, document imaging, and forms management servers.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Veterans, Reservist or Guardsmen will need to provide form DD 214 to verify eligibility for Veterans’ Preference. Education and Experience
